In India, exclusion from financial services has been observed across several dimensions: income (lower-income households often lack fair opportunities to access financial products), geography (regions such as the North-East, Eastern states, and rural areas have significantly lower access compared to more affluent parts of the country), and vocation (small farmers, self-employed individuals, and small enterprises struggle to establish credentials to avail financial services). The objective of the conference is to share and ideate on emerging opportunities to reach previously excluded segments through innovations in access, awareness, and product design. Regulation has played an encouraging role through a slew of initiatives aimed at improving the ecosystem for universal inclusion.Key questions include: How can these efforts be translated into action with measurable impact? How can technology be leveraged to make inclusion sustainable for banks and convenient for customers? How can mutually beneficial partnerships be forged between existing and new players in the ecosystem? And what parameters of measurement should be used by regulators and policymakers?Program Co-ordinatorsSmita AggarwalSenior Program Directorsaagarwal.cafral@rbi.org.inNidhi PrabhuProgram Officernidhi.cafral@rbi.org.in
