The program aims to enhance the conceptual understanding and strategic thinking of senior bankers in India. The focus will be on the management of assets and liabilities, particularly in the context of interest rate, liquidity, and foreign exchange risk.Over two days, participants will learn the fundamentals of risk management and apply this understanding to real-life cases based on Indian banks. These cases, specially developed for the program, cover a range of contemporary and complex issues that banks are currently grappling with. They will provide insights into how to approach these challenges and arrive at decisions best suited to each situation.The case discussions will involve extensive use of spreadsheets to facilitate a hands-on learning experience for participants.
Professor Marti G. Subrahmanyam is the Charles E. Merrill Professor of Finance, Economics, and International Business at the Stern School of Business, New York University. He is a Distinguished Alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He earned his doctorate in finance and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.Professor Subrahmanyam has published extensively in the areas of corporate finance, asset pricing, and international finance. He has been a visiting professor at leading academic institutions worldwide and has served as a consultant to corporations, industrial groups, and financial institutions across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has also advised international and government organizations.He has taught executive programs in over twenty countries and served on the editorial boards of several leading finance journals. He has supervised over fifty doctoral dissertations, chairing more than thirty of them. Professor Subrahmanyam has received numerous teaching awards, including New York University’s Distinguished Teaching Medal.
